The Haunted Chester Experience Event Tickets, Meet at Chester Tourist Information Centre, Chester

Experience Level Rating: Event suitable for beginners/experienced investigators. Past investigations have deemed this venue extremely scary.

Join us for this exclusive and special night where you will get to uncover the most haunted aspects of Chester, one of England's most haunted cities! The event is certainly not for the faint hearted and will take you to places with extreme paranormal activity....can you handle it?

Chester is a ghost hunter's heaven. Join a night-time Ghost Walk around the eerie haunts of Chester's mysterious and murky past. Tour the ancient, walled city after dark, visit well-known spooky and scary places, and hear spine-chilling tales of ghosts, spectres, and things that go bump in the night... was that a cold breeze or a spirit walking past you? Join us and find out!

The tour will start at 9pm and will last approximately an hour and 30 minutes before we are dropped off at the very haunted Stanley Palace! For the meeting point for this event please see information detailed below.

The Stanley Palace Haunting's
Chester's picturesque Stanley Palace is one of the most atmospheric and haunted buildings within the city walls. The ancient half-timbered, black-and-white, haunted mansion on Watergate Street was once the town house of James Stanley, the 7th Earl of Derby. Following the Parliamentarian's resounding victory in the English Civil War, the outspoken Earl foolishly voiced his Royalist opinions once too often - openly supporting the exiled King Charles II. Predictably, the Earl was arrested in 1651, tried, and convicted of treason. Surrounded by Roundhead troopers, he was then kept under strict house arrest in Stanley Palace before being escorted to Bolton for execution.

His last days were undoubtedly traumatic as he said a final goodbye to his family and friends. Today, his ghost still wanders wearily through the ground floor rooms, dressed forever in his smartest court finery. Strangest of all, however, is the fact that he appears as if in a photographic negative - with a dark face, black shirt, and white jacket. But quite why that is, no one can explain.

Stanley Palace has had its share of visitors and many have told afterwards of the strange and chilling presence they felt whilst visiting. Many have reported hearing children’s giggles, and soft moans and murmurs.

The figure of a lady dressed in 17th Century clothing has on a number of occasions been seen entering the Queen Anne Room, footsteps have been heard in the gallery and strange smells filling the air at any time of the day. Will we encounter the Monks that once dwelled on this site? You may even catch a glimpse of a Roman soldier as he wanders between the two worlds! The Ghost Hunt will commence around 11pm, the evening will start with a Medium Workshop and Ghost Hunt of the location. Full use of our paranormal equipment is available throughout the night but we encourage guests to bring along their own camcorders and cameras. Tea and Coffee will be served throughout the night, as NO Supper Buffet is served we encourage you to bring your own snacks.

The event will commence at 9pm, please arrive at the meeting point at 8.45pm. Please note there is no designated parking at Stanley Palace, car parking will be in nearby car parks. No food will be served on this event only hot drinks; we therefore encourage you to bring additional snacks for the night. Flat comfortable shoes must be worn on the night and we ask you to bring extra layers of clothing, it can get cold in the venue later on in the night. We encourage you to bring your own cameras and camcorders to use on the night and a torch. The event will draw to a close at 4am.

The Queens Hotel Ghost Hunt Event Tickets, Queens Hotel, Chester

Experience Level Rating: Event suitable for beginners. Location not investigated before but documented paranormal activity has been experienced/witnessed.

The Queen Railway Hotel opened its doors for receiving guests on 21st April 1860. Costing £29,000 this premier hotel was full of sumptuous furnishings and Cheshire Hunt often used the stable facilities, this area is now the hotel car park.

On the 26th November 1861 a fire broke out in the roof and quickly spread to the upper floors, the cause was never established. No structural damage was incurred and the hotel continued to trade whilst refurbishment took place. Most furnishing's and fittings were rescued from the building and stored in the train station (which is opposite the hotel).

Charles Dickens and Lilly Langtry stayed when they played at the Music Hall. In 1867 a sister hotel, The Queen Commercial (now known as the Town Crier) was opened. During the construction of City Road a tunnel was incorporated to link the two hotels. The tunnels exist to this day, but are no longer in use. The hotel is said to be haunted by many a ghostly spirit, spotted by staff members and guests alike. Most activity is centered around the Albert Lounge with staff reporting sightings and also in the Edward Suite which use to be a Gentleman's Lounge used by the high society guests of the hotel. An area of bedrooms used by the staff in 1858 is also said to be an area of paranormal activity.

Join us as we give you the opportunity to investigate one of Bolton's most haunted and historic locations....the Olde Man and Scythe AND the Olde Trinket Shop! Limited to just 18 tickets this will be a small and intimate ghost hunt, book early to avoid disappointment!

Ye Olde Man & Scythe is one of the best known pubs in Bolton town centre, one of the oldest public houses in the United Kingdom and is reputedly haunted by James Stanley, 7th Earl of Derby amongst others. Ye Olde Man & Scythe has stood in Churchgate since the 12th century.

The earliest mention of the pub dates to 1251 and a Royal Charter giving permission for a market to be held in by the Earl of Derby who owned the property where the building stands. The pub has undergone some structural changes and according to a date stone was rebuilt in 1636, though some of the cellar dates back to the earlier building. The sign depicts a man holding a scythe. Around the time of the Royal Charter of 1251, Ye Olde Man & Scythe passed from the Ferrers (Earl of Derby) family to the Pilkingtons through marriage. The crest of the Pilkingtons is that of a man mowing with a scythe which relates to a family legend concerning one of their ancestors who disguised themselves as a mower to avoid capture around the time of the Norman conquest.

The Pilkingtons fought for Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth on 22 August 1485 and Leonard Pilkington was executed for this in Leicester. The whole Pilkington family manor and estate was then passed to by Henry VII to Thomas Lord Stanley, the newly created Earl of Derby after the earldom had been re-introduced. Sir Thomas Pilkington of Pilkington is mentioned in the roll call for the Battle of Bosworth fighting for the Yorkist Richard and he later died at the Battle of Stoke in 1487.

There is said to be many a ghostly going's on in the walls of the buildings. Ye Olde Man & Scythe is said to be haunted by a young girl named Jenny and the ill fated James Stenley, 7th Earl of Derby, who has reputedly been seen in the Museum Room. An article by Jennifer Minard dated 2006 and entitled ‘TV Shuts Door On Haunted Hostelry’ in which she explains that representatives from Living TV examined the pub for a possible appearance on Most Haunted, but it was deemed unsuitable as the haunted rooms did not have doors on them. Jennifer’s article mentions that the pub is said to haunted by 20 ghosts!

The event will commence at 10pm, please arrive at the venue for 10.00pm when the doors will open. No food will be served on this event only hot drinks; we therefore encourage you to bring additional snacks for the night. The Spread Eagle Hotel, Jedburgh Event Tickets, Spread Eagle Hotel, Jedburgh, Roxburghshire

Experience Level Rating: Event suitable for beginners. Location not investigated before but documented paranormal activity has been experienced/witnessed.

Local historians believe that a building on the site of the Spread Eagle Hotel was constructed some time around 1450 as dormitories for the monks of the abbey in Jedburgh. It isn't clear whether any of this original structure remains, but the thickness of the walls certainly suggests great age.

The Spread Eagle Hotel was first granted a license to serve alcohol in 1604, when licenses were issued by the government in an attempt to control the price of beer, and it has been licensed continuously ever since. Famous guests have included Lord Darnley (who married Mary Queen of Scots), Sir Walter Scott, definitely Acker Bilk & quite possibly the Rolling Stones.

The area which now includes the dining room, function room and four of the guest bedrooms was originally a single large ballroom built by the Jedburgh Society in around 1800. The grand staircase leading up to these rooms is now in use as a fire escape! As part of the reconstruction work on this part of the hotel, the current owners restored the vennel (a covered path under the building) to show something of how the rear of the hotel would have looked when coachmen brought guests to the foot of that staircase for parties. There is some evidence from old maps that this vennel originally ran beneath the front of the hotel from the High Street and it certainly still lines up with the front door of the building.

The Hotel is said to be haunted, past investigations have unearthed some interesting levels of paranormal activity. Sightings of a Lady have been witnessed in the hotel, wearing green she has been lovingly dubbed the Green Lady of the hotel. This is Jedburgh's oldest hotel and so we are looking forward to stepping back in time and trying to make a connection with whoever haunts this hotel's past!!! The event will start with a 2 course evening meal which will be served in the Hotel's Dining Area.

Flat comfortable shoes must be worn on the night and we ask you to bring extra layers of clothing, it can get cold in the venue later on in the night. We encourage you to bring your own cameras and camcorders to use on the night and a torch. The event will draw to a close at 3am. Graythwaite Manor, Cumbria Ghost Hunt Event Tickets, Graythwaite Manor Hotel, Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria

The Graythwaite Manor Haunting's

Experience Level Rating: Event suitable for beginners. Location not investigated before but documented paranormal activity has been experienced/witnessed.

Graythwaite Manor is a stunning country house in Cumbria, Lake District and is a brand new location for us for 2010! The manor house holds many secrets and we will take you on a journey which will uncover the house's dark and mysterious past. We recently visited the manor and the owners explained about the paranormal activity she had witnessed. Along the ground floor many of the rooms are warm and inviting but venture further up the dark corridors and the manor takes on a more sinister feeling.

A painting, once hung in the breakfast room, seem to be one cause of paranormal activity. When the owners took down the picture and moved it out of the area the activity stopped - did a previous owner take a dislike to the picture? Night Porters have expressed their dislike of walking along the ground floor corridor late at night, they complain of the feeling of being watched. In the breakfast room one of our team members had to be taken outside as they felt as if they were being strangled and this activity happened in the middle of the day! So shook by the incident they have refused to enter back into the manor house! Objects are often moved about in some rooms and the sound of running footsteps has also been heard. So who haunts the corridors and rooms of this stunning hotel? We dare you to step forward and find out as we spend the night at Graythwaite Manor Hotel!

The event will commence at 9pm, please arrive at the venue between 8.30pm and 9.00pm. Parking is on site at the venue. No food will be served on this event only hot drinks; we therefore encourage you to bring additional snacks for the night. Ruthin Gaol Ghost Hunt Event Tickets, Ruthin Gaol, Ruthin, Clwyd

Ruthin Goal Most Haunted Ghost Hunt

Experience Level Rating: Event suitable for beginners/experienced investigators. Past investigations have deemed this venue extremely scary.

Ruthin Goal ceased to be a prison in 1916 when the prisoners and guards were transferred to Shrewsbury. The County Council bought the buildings in 1926 and used part of them for offices, the county archives, and the town library. During the Second World War the prison buildings were used as a munitions factory, before being handed back to the County Council, when it was the headquarters of the Denbighshire Library Service. In 2002 the Goal was extensively renovated and reopened as a museum.

The Goal is said to be haunted by many a spirit! Its certainly possible that John Jones, or'Coch Bach Y Balsa' as he was known, still haunts the building. He succeeded in escaping from the Goal twice, once on 30th November 1879 with three others while staff were having supper and secondly on 30th September 1913. This last escapade was to prove fatal. After living rough on the Nantclwyd Estate for 7 days, one of his pursuers, Reginald Jones-Bateman, shot him in the leg. John Jones died from shock and blood loss.

And what of William Kerr? Probably the Goal's most infamous Golfer, renowned for treating the inmates so badly, he was feared. Despite his reputation with the inmates , he was a loyal servant to the Goal and popular amongst the staff of the time. Serving in the Goal from 1871 to 1892, he used to ban prisoners from food, exercise and beat them if he deemed that they had misbehaved. He used to taunt them, banging on doors and whipping them at all times of the day, and jangle the cell keys outside the cells, infuriating inmates. His spirit still seems to linger, and he is commonly seen by staff and guests alike, and previous investigations have recorded the banging on cell doors, commonly associated with the infamous William Kerr. He left the Goal age 57 one day, and vanished. No one knows what happened to him. The Gaoler feared by many just seemed to 'vanish'.

The Olde Boars Head, Middleton, Manchester - Aura Imaging, Supper and Ghost Hunt Sightseeing Tickets, The Olde Boars Head, Manchester

Olde Boars Head Aura Reading, Supper and Ghost Hunt Event

Experience Level Rating: Event suitable for beginners. Past investigations have deemed this venue extremely spooky, appears to be haunted.

The Olde Boar's Head is thought to date back to at least 1587. The building itself has a fireplace with that date inscribed, although there are dates inscribed elsewhere, for example a stone lintel in the cellar has 1632 marked. The building itself has had many additions made to it during it's long history so these dates may suggest different phases of building work. It is known that the building was part of an ancient row of cottages and operated as a coaching inn on the former Chester to York highway.

During the English Civil War Middleton became a staunchly Parliamentarian and the Olde Boar's Head became the Roundhead's Headquarters for the area. It has also been documented that in 1745 Bonnie Prince Charlie whilst fleeing back to Scotland with the Redcoats in hot pursuit took refuge at the Olde Boar's Head. According to local legend, Dick Turpin stopped at the Inn to rest on his way to York; however there is no evidence of this. Another legend is that a secret tunnel exists which links the inn and the parish church which is on the hill opposite, no trace of this has been found. This tunnel may have been confused with another legendary tunnel between the Ring 'O Bells Inn and St. Leonard's Parish Church. This tunnel was said to have been used by the son of Lord Stanycliffe (A Cavalier) to flee the Ring O' Bells cellars after being betrayed to the Roundheads. Apparently, "Edward" did manage to escape the cellars but was caught and killed by the Roundheads who were waiting at the church end of the tunnel.

In 1919 the local council allocated £18,000 for a memorial to soldiers of Middleton who had died during the Great War. The memorial was to be a new Town Hall, the building was to be sited on Long Street and required the demolition of the Olde Boar’s Head. Thankfully the planned Town Hall never left the drawing board.  During recent times the Inn has been restored, and is popular for its warm atmosphere, great beer and fine food.

There have been many accounts of paranormal activity within the Boars Head. Olde Boar’s Head licensee Claire Robinson, a believer keen to establish the paranormal nature of her pub. She used to live on site and says on several occasions she felt a spirit tugging at her hair. Later she learnt that a young boy who died up the pub’s chimney had had this annoying habit during his life. The ghost of a former cleaner has also been spotted in the pub. An underground room which is now used for storage is said to have been a jail in the pub's early days.

Flat comfortable shoes must be worn on the night and we ask you to bring extra layers of clothing, it can get cold in the venue later on in the night. We encourage you to bring your own cameras and camcorders to use on the night and a torch. The event will draw to a close at 4am. Jedburgh Jail Ghost Hunt Event Tickets, Jedburgh Castle Jail and Museum, Jedburgh, Roxburghshire

Jedburgh Jail Most Haunted Ghost Hunt

Experience Level Rating: Event suitable for beginners/experienced investigators. Past investigations have deemed this venue extremely scary.

Jedburgh Jail was built in 1823 on the former site of Jethart Castle. Once a victorian prison it is now a local museum housing local history and imprisonment information. This location is a hive of paranormal activity and was very active on our last visit. The location even had a visit from Most Haunted recently as part of their Series 11.

On our last visit one of our crew members had to be taken out of one of the upper level cells due to the feeling of being strangled, once outside the cell they felt so sick and dizzy they nearly fainted and another crew member reported rope markings around their neck.
So shocked by the incident they refused to go back in the cell. In the lower levels of the jail another crew member's securely fastened bracelet was undone and startled the group when it fell to the floor. High levels of EVP were picked up in the jail, ranging from a child laughing to a male voice telling us to 'get out'. This is one very active location and not for the faint hearted! When Most Haunted visited the jail they had cell doors slamming and they dubbed this one of the most haunted jails they had ever visited! Don't miss out as we bring you the haunting's of Jedburgh Castle Jail!

The Hauntings of Smithills Hall Event Tickets, Smithills Hall, Bolton

Evening of Clairvoyance and Mini Ghost Hunt

Experience Level Rating: Event suitable for beginners/experienced investigators. Past investigations have deemed this venue extremely scary.

Join us at one of Bolton's most spookiest venues..... Smithills Hall for a spooky night they will never forget. The event will start at 8pm where tea and coffee will be served upon arrival, settle down in the Great Hall for our Evening of Clairvoyance with medium Paul Hunt. Paul will provide messages from spirit, a rather rewarding yet sometimes emotional experience.

The evenings can be a very moving experience with specific details being passed from Spirit people through our medium to their loved ones in the audience – especially if you are the lucky recipient of one of their detailed and accurate messages.

Around 10pm we will start our Mini Ghost Hunt of the hall. There have been many ghostly encounters at the hall, Smithills is not just famous for its grandeur and beauty. The atmosphere in the building and its long history seems to inspire many ghost stories. In the great hall, a reputed psychic once reported seeing a strange looking man and a woman, both of whom appeared to be in 15th century dress. The man was seen as strong whilst the woman seemed to be distressed. Smithills was passed on to the Barton family in 1485, and was home to them for almost 200 years. During the War of the Roses, John Barton had fought and died at the Battle of St Albans.

There have also been some unexplained encounters in the chapel. One day one of the Friends of Smithills Hall went into the chapel before the hall opened to visitors. He saw that there was someone kneeling in prayer. On meeting a colleague in the corridor he mentioned that there was someone in the chapel. The colleague went to have a look and returned to say there was no one there. Only recently when a member of staff was taking some dead flowers out of the chapel; something pushed her from behind with such force that she fell onto the wall, and still has the grazes to prove it!

In the shop used to hang a Pugin mirror. One day the shop manager looked in the mirror and noticed that there was a man with white bushy hair dressed in black watching her from the doorway. She turned around and he wasn't’t there. Two weeks later the same thing happened again. The third time she saw the man he was on the stairs. Could this have been one of the Ainsworth’s, who inherited the house in 1870?

The event will commence at 8pm, please arrive at the venue for 8.00pm when the doors will open. No food will be served on this event only hot drinks; we therefore encourage you to bring additional snacks for the night. Mill Street Barracks Ghost Hunt

Experience Level Rating: Event suitable for beginners/experienced investigators. Past investigations have deemed this venue extremely scary.

Mill Street Barracks in St Helens is now used by St Helens Sea Cadets but its past is one which sometimes remains a mystery! The building has quite an eerie atmosphere and after a 2 year break we are pleased to be returning to this very active location! Back in 2007 we conducted a few investigations at this location and came across some fantastic paranormal activity!

Cellars always hold a foreboding atmosphere but in the Barracks it is the scene of much paranormal activity! On our last visit our group was conducting a seance in Cellar 1, our medium was calling out when a member of our team heard and felt a breath right by her, this was also witnessed by the people around her.

In Cellar 2 a locked off flour experiment with beam barriers was set off. On our last vigil one group was sitting quietly in the cellar directly outside the locked off room when all of a sudden the beam barriers were set off. The Team Leader called on another member of staff to come and unlock the door, upon entering the room clear footprints were seen not only in the flour but heading off towards a bricked up exit in the room....who or what set the beam barriers off that night?Another incident was when the whole group were in Cellar 2 with our medium conducting the Ghost Walk of the location, clear running footsteps were heard in the main hall above the group, 2 staff members went to check but no one was there and no other members of the group or location staff were missing from the group! This is a highly active location and one which we are really looking forward to returning too!

The event will commence at 9pm, please arrive at the venue between 8.30pm and 9.00pm. There is parking outside of the Barracks. The Tolbooth Ghost Hunt, Aberdeen Event Tickets, The Tollbooth, Aberdeen

The Tolbooth Ghost Hunt (A Most Haunted Series 13 Location)

Experience Level Rating: Event suitable for beginners. Location not investigated before but documented paranormal activity has been experienced/witnessed.

The original building on the site of the Museum was built in 1393 as an area for collecting tolls for goods that were bought and sold. Years later its role changed to that of a holding place for prisoners about to be tried at the court. This then developed into a general prison. The Wardhouse, now known as the The Tollbooth Museum, was built between 1616 and 1629. Several cells still exist in their original format and can be explored at your peril! The current gaolers reminisce about the past occupants and the conditions they were kept in.

The most famous inmate was Janet Walker, known as The Fittie Witch. She was a 17th Century woman called Janet Walker who was suspected of witchcraft. There have been many deaths in the gaol over the Centuries and there have been ghosts, witnessed haunting's and paranormal activities. The Tollbooth ghosts have manifested themselves to many people over the years and more recently Aberdeen author Graeme Milne spent some time at the Tollbooth in Aberdeen to investigate the ghosts. He has written about his findings in his book The Haunted North: Paranormal Tales from Aberdeen and the North East which includes other peoples accounts of seeing a more modern ghost. This has been described as a man of four feet tall wearing 1920s clothing with a trilby hat. This visitation has caused several people to flee the Tollbooth in Aberdeen. It is thought that he appears as 4ft because the floor has been raised since he was alive.

The event will commence at 8pm, please arrive at the venue between 7.30pm and 8.00pm. No food will be served on this event only hot drinks; we therefore encourage you to bring additional snacks for the night. The Lion and Swan, Congleton Ghost Hunt Event Tickets, The Lion and Swan, Congleton, Cheshire

Experience Level Rating: Event suitable for beginners. Location not investigated before but documented paranormal activity has been experienced/witnessed.

The Lion and Swan is a half timbered Coaching Inn in the heart of Congleton, Cheshire. There has been a Licensed Inn, Alehouse or Travellers Resting Place on this site since 1496 or earlier, and a small part of this remains in the present building which dates from the 16th Century.

It was built from reclaimed ships timbers with wattle and daub infill and a section is exposed for historical interest next to the reception area. Originally two separate taverns; The Lion and The Swan, the buildings were extended and merged from the 18th Century onwards to provide stabling and additional accommodation as stagecoach, canal and ultimately rail travel expanded across the country.

There is much mystery which surrounds the Lion and Swan. The original fireplace in the restaurant is something of a mystery, with a complex mixture of carvings of lions and figures. These may be associated with tales of the ghost of a young, brown haired woman who appears at the new moon wearing only clogs and a smile. Some scholars suggest that the carvings may have originally been part of a bridal bed and linked to ancient fertility rites. The most haunted room in the hotel is Room 20, many people have worken in the middle of the night cold and being able to see there own breath, others have complained of hearing scratching noises....are you brave enough to conduct a lone vigil in the room?

The event will commence at 10.30pm, please arrive at the venue between 10.00pm and 10.30pm. There is on site parking at the Venue.

The evening will draw to a close with a sum up of any activity caught throughout the evening. Full use of our paranormal equipment is available throughout the night but we encourage guests to bring along their own camcorders and cameras. There are also the remains of the original village demolished and moved to improve the gardens. Along with the David Douglas Pavilion (Douglas Fir) born at scone, botanic areas and Perthshires only Maze. Theres plenty to see.

With time for lunch in the Famous Restaurant and a tour which includes a brand new interactive show. A more traditional distillery tour AND a tasting straight from the cask. You will find Glenturret an unforgettable visit.

The Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official residence in Scotland of Her Majesty The Queen, stands at the end of Edinburgh's Royal Mile against the spectacular backdrop of Arthur's Seat.

This famous baroque palace is closely associated with Scotland's rich history. Today the Royal Apartments are used regularly by The Queen for State ceremonies and official entertaining. They are finely decorated with magnificent works of art from the Royal Collection.

The State Apartments reflect the changing tastes of successive monarchs and are renowned for their fine plasterwork ceilings and magnificent furnishings, particularly the unrivalled collection of Brussels tapestries. One of the most famous rooms in the Palace is the Great Gallery, hung with Jacob de Wet's 110 portraits of the real and legendary kings of Scotland.

The Palace is best known as the home of Mary, Queen of Scots and was the setting for the many dramatic episodes in her short and turbulent reign. Mary was twice married in the Abbey at Holyroodhouse and witnessed the brutal murder of her secretary Rizzio by her jealous husband, Lord Darnley, in her private apartments. The Causeway Coast Tour Sightseeing Tickets, City Sightseeing (Belfast), Belfast

    Geology and the scientific explanation:

During the Paleogene period, Antrim was subject to intense volcanic activity, when highly fluid molten basalt intruded through chalk beds to form an extensive lava plateau. As the lava cooled rapidly, contraction occurred. While contraction in the vertical direction reduced the flow thickness (without fracturing), horizontal contraction could only be accommodated by cracking throughout the flow. The extensive fracture network produced the distinctive columns seen today. The basalts were originally part of a great volcanic plateau called the Thulean Plateau which formed during the Paleogene period.

    The Irish version of events:

Legend has it that the Irish giant Fionn mac Cumhaill (Finn McCool) built the causeway to walk to Scotland to fight his Scottish counterpart Benandonner. One version of the legend tells that Fionn fell asleep before he got to Scotland. When he did not arrive, the much larger Benandonner crossed the bridge looking for him. To protect Fionn, his wife Oonagh laid a blanket over him so he could pretend that he was actually their baby son. In a variation, Fionn fled after seeing Benandonner's great bulk, and asked his wife to disguise him as the baby. In both versions, when Benandonner saw the size of the 'infant', he assumed the alleged father, Fionn, must be gigantic indeed. Therefore, Benandonner fled home in terror, ripping up the Causeway in case he was followed by Fionn.

Another variation is that Oonagh painted a rock shaped like a steak and gave it to Benandonner, whilst giving the baby (Fionn) a normal steak. When Benandonner saw that the baby was able to eat it so easily, he ran away, tearing up the causeway.

The "causeway" legend corresponds with geological history in as much as there are similar basalt formations (a part of the same ancient lava flow) at the site of Fingal's Cave on the isle of Staffa in Scotland.

Shakespeare's Globe Theatre Tour & Exhibition Sightseeing Tickets, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, London

Shakespeare's Globe Exhibition is the world's largest exhibition devoted to Shakespeare and the London in which he lived and worked. Housed beneath the reconstructed Globe Theatre on London's Bankside, the exhibition explores the remarkable story of the Globe, and brings Shakespeare's world to life using a range of interactive displays and live demonstrations.

Visit the exciting and often dangerous world of Elizabethan London where in 1599, Bankside was the entertainment center of the capital packed with gambling dens, brothels, bear-baiting pits and theaters. Ordinary people flocked to see Shakespeare's plays and they laughed, cried, shouted abuse at the actors, ate and drank during the performances.

As a visitor to the Exhibition you'll discover how shows were produced in the theaters of Shakespeare's time, from writing and rehearsals to music, dance and performance. Learn about the traditional crafts and techniques used during the process of rebuilding the Globe and find out how special effects were produced in Shakespeare's time - from thunder and lightning to flying on stage and realistic blood and gore. Listen to recordings from some of the most Shakespearean performances ever or join the cast and add your own voice to a scene recorded by Globe actors. Create your own Shakespearean phrases in the word jungle, watch a sword-fighting display and browse the costume collection, where you can find out about the extraordinary methods used in creating clothes 400 years ago.

A visit to the Exhibition includes a guided tour of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre where storytellers take you on a fascinating half-hour tour of the auditorium. Journey through time to Elizabethan London with their colourful tales of the 1599 theater experience as well as the reconstruction process of the 1990's and how the wooden 'o' works today as an imaginative and experimental theatrical space.

Private Titanic Tour Sightseeing Tickets, Titanic Tours Belfast, Belfast

This tour offers you the opportunity to visit of the of the key sites in the history of the construction and launch of the greatest liner ever built in Belfast - Titanic, from the luxury of a VIP configured Mercedes MPV. The tour operates all year round & the price includes collection from any location within the greater Belfast area.

The tour is conducted by Susie Millar, the great-granddaughter of Thomas Millar, who worked in Harland & Wolff on the construction of Titanic & then sailed onboard her as an engineer on the fateful maiden voyage to New York in April 1912. His death at the age of 33 left his two young sons orphaned. Tommy's story has been passed down through three generations of the Millar family. Before he left Belfast on board Titanic, he gave both his sons two new pennies, telling them, Don't spend those until I see you again. His younger son kept those pennies all his life. He passed them on to his son who gave them to Susie. The story has been immortalised in plays, poems and songs.

As part of your journey back through the history of the great liner, you will get to visit SS Nomadic, the last surviving vessel of the White Star Line & the tender used to ferry First Class Passengers to Titanic. This is an EXCLUSIVE feature of the tour as SS Nomadic is not open to the public currently.

Whatever your length of stay in Belfast city, you can fit this tour into your itinerary. Pick-up is available from your hotel, cruise ship, B&B, or even if you are staying with friends of family, at a time to suit you. The vehicle seats a maximum of 5 people. It is a Mercedes Viano people carrier, with built-in DVD system, air conditioning, leather seats and privacy glass. Because of Belfast's unpredictable weather, we provide the umbrellas! Bottled water is also included.

Our first stop is the exterior of the home of former shipyard chairman, Lord William Pirrie. This fine Scottish baronial house is set in the suburbs of East Belfast.

Then we cross the city to the home where chief Titanic designer, Thomas Andrews lived with his wife, Helen. Dunallon has a beautiful wrought iron staircase and stained glass window which is said to have been the inspiration for the window in the ballroom on Titanic. The building is now the home of the Irish Football Association and is only open during business hours. There is a chance here to visit the IFA shop.

From here, we enter the Titanic Quarter and learn about the slipways where Olympic and Titanic were built side by side, dominating the Belfast skyline from 1908 onwards. A complimentary audio tour provides a lively introduction to centuries of royal history and includes interviews with Royal Household staff about the working Palace and the works of art on display.

Find out more about the history of Buckingham Palace and how it is used today on the British Monarchy Website.

    What There Is To See

The Palace's 39-acre garden is an oasis for wildlife, and visitors can enjoy a garden walk that offers superb views of the Garden Front of the Palace and the 19th-century lake.

    The Queen’s Year

A special exhibition at the Summer Opening of Buckingham Palace
The special exhibition at the Summer Opening of Buckingham Palace in 2010 will give visitors a lively insight into the principal national and ceremonial events in the royal year.

The Queen’s Year will include displays of ceremonial robes, gifts, uniforms, dresses and jewellery, as well as archive photography and film to evoke the many and varied aspects of the sovereign’s work.

The exhibition will illustrate the pageantry, tradition and ceremony of the State Opening of Parliament, the historic Garter Day ceremony at Windsor Castle and Trooping the Colour, as well as investitures, garden parties and State Visits.

Buckingham Palace: Summer Opening of the State Rooms & Royal Mews Attraction Tickets, Buckingham Palace, London

This special voucher may be exchanged for admission to the Royal Mews and Buckingham Palace State Rooms. Please read the notes below carefully.

Buckingham Palace is the official London residence of Her Majesty The Queen and serves as both home and office.

    Royal Mews

One of the finest working stables in existence, the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace provides a unique insight into the department of the Royal Household that provides transport by road for The Queen and other members of the Royal Family.

    What there is to see
The Royal Mews houses the state vehicles, both horse-drawn carriages and motor cars, used for coronations, state visits, royal weddings, the State Opening of Parliament and other official engagements. Visitors can see the Gold State Coach which was last used during The Queen's Golden Jubilee in 2002 to carry Her Majesty and Prince Philip to the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral.

For most of the year the stables are home to the working horses that play an important role in The Queen's official and ceremonial duties. They are mainly Cleveland Bays, the only British breed of carriage horse, and the Windsor Greys, which by tradition always draw the carriage in which The Queen is travelling. As they may be on duty, undergoing training or having a well-deserved rest away from London, the horses are not always on view.

    State Rooms

Buckingham Palace serves as both the office and London residence of Her Majesty The Queen, as well as the administrative headquarters of the Royal Household. It is one of the few working royal palaces remaining in the world today.

Today the State Rooms are used extensively by The Queen and Members of the Royal Family to receive and entertain their guests on state, ceremonial and official occasions. Come and investigate the case for yourself - who was Jack the Ripper?

Part 3: The Terror of the Thames
The River Thames takes on a whole new dimension in the dark. Join our terror cruise and listen to tales of KGB murders and suspicious suicides as we creep back from the Tower of London to Embankment Pier.

    The Tour:

    WINDSOR CASTLE
Over 900 years of royal history are waiting for you in Windsor Castle, which is perched high above the River Thames just outside of London. From William the Conqueror all the way through to our current Queen, successive monarchs have lived here and left their mark on what is now the largest continuously occupied castle in the world. We shall be amongst the first people to enter Windsor Castle, so you can see for yourself the splendour of St. Georges chapel and the sumptuous state apartments. Windsor itself is a pretty town full of traditional shops AQand historic pubs. Shakespeare is said to have written his play The Merry Wives of Windsor in one of them! After our visit to Windsor, we drive through Runnymede, where King John signed the Magna Carta.

    STONEHENGE
The most famous prehistoric monument in the world, and now a world heritage site, Stonehenge stands alone in the vast empty tract of Salisbury plain. Its origins date back nearly 5,000 years and it has been home to pagan religion and spiritual worship, not to be mention public debate ever since. What was this vast collection of stones intended for? Was it observatory of the moon, a temple to the sun, or an elaborate cemetery? Who were the people who carried and carved these 40 ton rocks? Come and unlock the secrets for yourself and marvel at this remarkable and mysterious feat of ancient engineering and design.

    BATH
Our final stop is Bath, another world heritage site. Bath is a beautiful Georgian city with delightful crescents, terraces and architecture. Following our guided tour of the city, there will be plenty of time to visit Bath Abbey and Pulteney Bridge overlooking the river Avon cascading over the weir. And you can shop, explore and take afternoon tea in the Pump Rooms while listening to the string quartet.

At the sun sets, the flares and torches are lit encircling the magnificent Roman Baths, where over one million litres of boiling water still burst from the hot springs everyday. As the other visitors are asked to leave, we enjoy a private viewing of this great site -- exclusive to Premium Tours. Feel free to explore the baths on your own should you wish, or just soak up the atmosphere as the pockets of mist swirl above the bubbling pools. A truly magical end to a wonderful day.

    'Last Debutantes' Exhibition

The last debutantes exhibition-Kensington Palace takes visitors on a journey into the glamorous and alluring world of the debutante with a new exhibition marking the 50th anniversary of the last court presentations.

Fashionable afternoon dresses and ball gowns, including stunning examples of couture by Christian Dior and Pierre Balmain, as well as accessories worn by some of the ‘debs’ during the final Season of 1958 will be displayed in this multimedia exhibition which tells their stories against the backdrop of dramatic social change that heralded the arrival of the swinging sixties.

Kensington Palace has been a royal home for over 300 years and parts of the palace remain a private residence for members of the Royal Family today. The magnificent State Apartments and the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection, which includes dresses worn by HM Queen Elizabeth II and Diana, Princess of Wales, are open to the public.

Kensington Palace was once a favoured home of some of Britain's most famous kings and queens and the setting for many great events and dramas in royal history. Originally a private country house, the building was acquired by William III and Mary II in 1689 and was adapted for royal residence by Sir Christopher Wren. For the next 70 years the palace was at the centre of the life and government of the kingdom and played host to the courts of William and Mary, Queen Anne, George I and George II. In the 19th century Kensington was the birthplace and childhood home of Princess Victoria (later Queen Victoria).

Kensington's best known resident in recent years was Diana, Princess of Wales (1961-97) who occupied apartments in the north-west part of the palace from 1981 to 1997.
